St Stephens Place Leisure Park,

Taking advantage of the excellent existing transport links

The transport and access proposals have been prepared in close consultation with the Council, and the design has been developed to specifically take advantage of the excellent existing transport links within the town centre.

The development will provide the following transport improvements:

✔ Enhanced pedestrian linkages towards the town centre via both Castle Street and the Town Park;

✔ Improved combined cycle and pedestrian route along the River Biss with cycle parking;

✔ New bus stops on MortimerStreet to complement existing stops on Market Street; and

✔ Anew miniroundabout acces sjunction from St Stephens Place.

As the scheme will be a leisure destination, the majority of traffic will be attracted outside existing peak periods and therefore the overall traffic impact is anticipated to be minimal.

Car parking

The car parking provision has been developed to meet the demands of the development but also provide a sustainable solution.

The proposed and existing car parking areas will be used to support the scheme, particularly during the evenings when more parking is available in the adjacent Castle Place multi storey car park.
